DC relays
HVDC relays are used to supply and cut-off DC power by opening and closing the movable contact. The arc discharge after cutting the DC power supply can damage the contacts and surrounding components, therefore the arc must be extinguished as soon as possible.

HVDC relay, used in an electric vehicle, is installed between the vehicle battery and the inverter to cut off charging and discharging the DC current of the battery. It is also used between the external charger and the vehicle battery. The products used come from the series of relays (GER) with a rated voltage of DC 450 V and a rated current of 10 A ~ 400 A.
As the rated voltage increases, the size of the product must be increased to provide insulation. However, the GPR-M series (1000V) is realized in the same size as the GER series (DC 450V), which improves customer space utilization. The GPR-M and GPR-H series are equipped with the same hydrogen barrier as the GER series.
GPR-H series has a DC rated voltage of 1500 V, 500 A and an auxiliary contact. They are all UL and IEC certified. Moreover, it is an advantage that the GPR-H series can be used in a system where bidirectional blocking such as backblocking or system loading / unloading can occur through the use of a bidirectional magnetic arc extinguishing structure.
The use of these relays is also in photovoltaics, where the HVDC relay is used to turn on and off solar modules in PV systems.
